On 29th of July at 10AM – 11AM, Kathy Warye, Principal Infection Prevention Partners, and Mark Schwartz, Director Facilities Management URMC hold a lecture on the topic “Eliminating Airborne Contamination in the Operating Room”

The presenters will provide a brief update on airborne contamination risk in the operating room and the implications of rising rates of surgical site infection; contrast US standards for OR air quality with the more rigorous standards of care emerging in an increasing number of countries; review the limitations of our current approach to air quality in the OR; explain the science of Temperature-controlled Air Flow (TcAF) ventilation and take participants through the first major installation of a TcAF system in the US.  This session is for engineers, architects and clinicians who are engaged in building or renovating operating rooms.
